Brief introduction of rough rolling mill used in packaging steel strip production
　　（1）Equipment
　　 There is a scale breaking machine at the front of the roughing mill. Its function is to remove a thick primary oxide scale produced on the slab sent from the heating furnace. Use a small-reduction drill and rolling method to crack the oxide scale, and then use high-pressure water (100-150 kg/cm2) to remove it. There are horizontal and vertical types of scale-breaking machines for oxide scale. Recently, most of them adopt the latter.
　　 There are continuous and reversible types of rough rolling mills. The slab passing through 4-6 roughing mills from one direction is continuous. In this case, it is usually driven by a synchronous motor, and a slab cannot be continuously rolled on two rolling mills at the same time. The reversible type is to roll 3-7 passes back and forth on a rolling mill. Because the rolling mill is required to reverse and change speed, it is driven by a DC motor.
　　（2）Operation
　　Rough rolling is followed after descaling. The descaled slab is rolled by horizontal rolls, vertical rolls, descaling devices, etc. on the roughing mill according to the determined thickness, width and expected plate shape, temperature, and surface properties.
　　The thickness of the rough rolling is determined according to the thickness of the finished product, the capacity balance of the roughing mill and the finishing mill, the yield rate, and the operating conditions.
