  The cutting edge of packaging steel belt must have sufficient strength, rigidity, stability and wear resistance. Therefore, the cutting edge material must have better hardenability. In addition, it must have a certain degree of toughness to withstand impact loads. The materials that can be used for the blades of packaging steel strips and their hardness values u200bu200bafter heat treatment are shown in Table 4-3.
  The thickness of the packaging steel strip is determined by the material type, thickness and the life of the cutting edge of the blanking part. Under normal conditions, the thickness of the packaging steel strip should be slightly larger than that of the blanking parts, and the minimum thickness should not be less than 1.5 meters. Since the packaging steel strip punching die has the feature of automatically adjusting the gap with different thickness of the sheet material, the initial gap of the convex and concave dies can refer to the data listed in Table 4-4.
The geometric relationship between    punching parts and packaging steel belt, ejector, and inner and outer templates is shown in Table 4-5. The extension of the packaging steel belt is 4-1, taking two-fifths of the height of the packaging steel belt 8 (that is, the fixed part of the packaging steel belt occupies three-fifths of its height). Taking into account the grinding of the packaging steel strip (about 0.2-0.3 mm each time), after the die edge is assembled, it can generally be 0.5-1 mm higher than the pallet.
  The geometric shapes of the cutting edge of the packaging steel belt have three types: cutter cutting edge, right angle cutting edge and bevel cutting edge. The cutting edge shape of the cutter should adopt a beveled sharp edge, as shown in Figure 4-1. The picture (a) is a thin material packaging steel strip die. The shape of the punch depends on the die, so the blade of the packaging steel strip die is inclined outward. Figure (b) shows the punching shank with a punching die. The size of the punching hole depends on the punch, so the blade of the punch packaging steel belt is inclined inward. When punching non-ferrous metals, the best bevel angle of the cutting edge is αu003d45°.
