Features of low melting point alloy mold for packaging steel strip
low melting point alloy molds are made by using low melting point metal elements as the formula, using the casting process to make mold cavities and forming punches; or using low melting point alloys as positioning, supporting and connecting substrates, and inserting steel cutting edges Used as a punching edge to make large-scale trimming, punching and other molds with complex shapes.
In terms of sheet metal forming, it is mainly the forming of circular, box, conical and hemispherical parts. For shallow drawn parts, because the cavity of the cavity is less stressed, it is not necessary to embed a steel cavity template in the low melting point alloy cavity when the approval is not large. For deep-drawn parts or hemispherical parts, the low melting point alloy mold must have a blank holder, and it is best to use a simplified structure mold on a double-action punch.
Compared with steel molds, low melting point alloy molds have the advantages of shorter mold manufacturing cycle and lower cost. As low melting point alloy molds replace a large amount of machining and fitter processing by casting, it usually only takes 2-6 hours to cast a pair of low melting point alloy molds. Therefore, the manufacturing cycle of molds is generally 60-90% shorter than that of steel molds. The more complex the shape or the larger the size, the more obvious its superiority. In addition, low melting point alloy molds use only a small amount of ordinary steel, and do not require special steel (trimming dies and punching dies only need a small amount of tool steel for the steel cutting edge), which can save about 80% of the steel material and has a low melting point. You can also recycle and recast new molds. Therefore, the cost of making molds can be reduced by approximately 60-90% compared to steel molds. In addition, the use of low melting point alloy molds has the following advantages: ①Since the low melting point alloy has cold expansion, it can be used in the shrinkage casting method, so the precision of the mold size is high; ②The mold is cast on the press bed, no need Adjust the gap between the mold and the repair; ③The mold is easy to operate; ④The low melting point alloy is soft and suitable for non-destructive forming.
low melting point alloy molds can be pressed 08, 08F, A3, B3, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, duralumin and other materials, the thickness of which is 0.3-3 mm (the maximum processing thickness of steel plate has reached 6 mm). When the steel plate with a thickness of 1.5 mm is pressed, the life of one casting mold can reach 3000 pieces. The current application overview of low melting point alloy forming dies is shown in Table 6-1.
