Along the width direction, the edges are large and the middle is small, so that the tail of the slab has Irregular shrinkage. This shrinkage phenomenon is caused by incomplete penetration compression deformation and plastic stretching in the middle of the rolling piece.
   It can be seen from the metal deformation of the rolling side of the vertical roll that if the width of the slab is large, the reduction of the side rolling of the vertical roll is relatively small, so the deformation zone is also shorter and there is no plastic deformation. The metal layer completely penetrates the deformation zone, and plastic deformation occurs only in a certain area close to the vertical roller. The test proves that when the reduction is 20-30mm, plastic deformation occurs at a distance from the edge of the slab, and when the reduction increases to 30-60mm, a plastic deformation occurs at a distance of 300mm from the edge. From the perspective of loose iron scale requirements, it is hoped that the larger the side pressure, the better, but this will cause serious uneven deformation and cause edge warping, so the reduction rate of the opposite roll mill is generally recommended to be about 5%. Production practice shows that the reduction when the vertical roll is used to break the scale is about 50mm. The side pressure of the vertical roll of a universal rolling mill mainly depends on the width of the horizontal roll, and is related to factors such as slab thickness, width, reduction, and friction coefficient, generally 4-32mm. When multi-pass vertical roll side rolling, the reduction of the initial rolling pass is taken as a large value, and the final rolling pass is taken as a small value. The specific value should be calculated and determined according to the rolling spread formula.
  The shape of the roll body of the vertical roll has a large upper and a small taper, the taper is generally 5%, and there is a boss on the lower part of the vertical roll. Its purpose is to ensure stability during lateral pressure and prevent the board from lifting up or bending.
