Recovery of Zinc Ash and Zinc Dregs from Zinc-plated Packaging Steel Strip
In the process of hot-dip galvanizing, ash and slag are inevitably produced. The generation of floating ash will directly affect the operating conditions, so it must be removed at any time with a scraper. The generation of sludge will cause greater consumption of zinc liquid, and once the sludge is formed, it will grow exponentially, which is a serious problem. Therefore, we must also use a dregs spoon to remove them in time or regularly. Sometimes, iron slag or iron parts are dropped into the pot due to careless work, and a snowball-shaped zinc cluster with iron slag as the core will form. This snowball-shaped zinc cluster will quickly grow to form a large zinc slag. Therefore, if such spherical zinc clusters are found, they must be removed in time.
Zinc slag is a solid solution of zinc-iron phase alloy. Under certain conditions, it will be mixed with pure zinc due to operation disturbance. Therefore, each time the slag is cleaned, it is required to raise the temperature of the zinc solution above the operating temperature to separate the zinc solution from the sediment, and then lower the temperature to below the operating temperature to make the zinc slag completely sink to the bottom. Sometimes, it needs to be repeated several times before the slagging operation can be carried out.
The zinc content of zinc ash and zinc slag is very high. Generally, the zinc content of zinc ash is 79-86%, while the zinc content of zinc slag is even higher, as high as 90-95%. Therefore, more than 80% of industrial pure zinc can be recovered from zinc ash and zinc slag. Using local smelting, more than 60% of industrial pure zinc can also be recovered. Therefore, the recovery of zinc ash and zinc slag is an important matter. In terms of economic costs alone, the cost of smelting one ton of zinc recovered is only about 1/4 of that of buying commercial zinc.
The recycled zinc ash and zinc slag should be stacked under a specially set rain shelter. It is best to stack the zinc ash and zinc slag separately to facilitate classification treatment. Under conditions, the zinc ash and zinc slag can also be mixed and melted in the pot, and then cast into a zinc slag ingot. This is not only neatly stacked, but also easy to ship and smelt.
After the slag is removed, the zinc liquid will contain gas and other impurities due to the disturbance of slag removal, which has a great influence on the quality of galvanizing. Therefore, it is necessary to use zinc oxide to purify the zinc liquid.
