A brief review of the development of packaging steel strip continuous casting technology
The purpose of packaged steel strip continuous casting is to reduce the thickness of the cast slab output from the continuous casting machine, to minimize the number of hot rolling mill stands, and to achieve the shortest production process to produce hot strips and achieve low investment , Low-cost, fast-paced production methods and economic benefits. Therefore, in the early stage of the development of packaging steel strip casting technology, the process production line was set up for the purpose of completely eliminating the rough rolling mill and directly connecting the casting mill and the finishing mill. Therefore, the thickness of the cast slab produced by the packaging steel strip and the continuous casting machine is all below 70mm (generally considered that 70 is the upper limit for the elimination of the rough rolling mill and the casting slab directly into the finishing mill). For example, SMS Siemag built the first CSP production line in Nucor with a slab thickness of 45mm; the ISP production line jointly developed by Deutsche Mark and CVRD has a slab thickness of 50mm. In the mid-1980s, Sumitomo also carried out the development of packaging steel strip technology with a thickness of 40mm. In the early stage of the development of packaging steel strip continuous casting technology, two types of packaging steel strip continuous casting molds were formed: funnel mold (represented by SMS design) and parallel plate mold (represented by Deutsche Mark and Sumitomo Design). The continuous accumulation of production experience has proved that the funnel-shaped mold is more practical to produce packaging steel strip with such a thickness of the cast slab, while the parallel plate mold is difficult to control the surface quality of the cast slab, and it is difficult for people to immerse. The type nozzle put forward extremely high requirements, and continuous casting production is not economical and reasonable. Therefore, Deutsche Mark has improved the parallel plate mold to the 'olive type' mold form, and Sumitomo stopped the research of packaging the parallel plate mold of the steel strip. And development, it turned to the development of medium-thickness (90-150mm) slab continuous casting technology in the early 1990s, and achieved considerable results.
